What are the First Tier Counties in Texas?
Do I need it?
While all areas are susceptible to windstorm damage. Coastlines are at large risk as they are more susceptible to hurricanes. Another area of risk is known as Tornado Alley, which experts say extends from central Texas up north into Minnesota.
Often, windstorm coverage is already included in a general homeowners policy, unless you live in a First Tier county (which borders or is very near a coastline). If so, then your general home policy probably doesn't include windstorm damage and you'll need more coverage to help you in the event of a hurricane or tornado.
