Meet the TXINS Team – Hector Gutierrez

hectorHector Gutierrez recently celebrated his 10 year anniversary with TXINS and we couldn’t more proud of him or his many accomplishments through the years. Hector is a genuinely kind person and it shows in the amount of volunteer work he does for his community. He is always willing to lend a hand or give helpful advice. We are so proud to have Hector as part of the TXINS family!

  1. How long have you been with TXINS?

I started working for TXINS in April 2005. I am proud to say that I just celebrated my 10th Anniversary here.

  1. What is your favorite thing about working for TXINS?

With 25 people in the office, there is never a dull moment!

Making BBQ for my family is one of my favorite things to do. We love spending time together and I love being able to cook for them.

  1. What are a few of your hobbies?

I enjoy plants and working in my yard to make new flower beds. Gardening is very relaxing to me.

  1. Tell us about your family.

I have been married to my lovely wife, Rosemary, for 31 years. We have two sons. Eloy (26) is a Texas State graduate, Class of 2011. Nicholas (22) is a Texas A&M graduate, Class of 2014.

My sons and I are very active in the Knights of Columbus. We are Fourth Degree members and spend a lot of time volunteering in our community.

  1. Do you have any hobbies?

My boys and I are Fourth Degree members of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 1131, El Campo TX. We enjoy helping people and giving back to the community. One of our family traditions is to serve plates at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner in El Campo. We’ve been volunteering for that event for 17 years.

  1. What did you want to be when you grew up?

First I wanted to be an astronaut, then a scientist, then a race car driver. I never imaged I would end up in insurance sales. But I love meeting people and the fast-paced world of insurance. It’s always changing so it keeps me on my toes.

My wife Rosemary and I are avid motorcycle enthusiasts. When the weather is nice, we spend as much time on the open road as possible.

  1. What’s your #1 goal in life?

I want to spoil my wife as much as I can…but don’t let her know that!

  1. Where is your favorite place to relax and unwind?

I love spending time in my backyard and barbequing for friends and family.

  1. What do you like to do on the weekends?

I like going to motorcycle rallies and car shows. Seeing a beautiful craftsmanship of a custom car or motorcycle is amazing. They really are works of art.

Spending time in my garden and flower beds is the best way to relax. I like to think that I have a “green thumb”.

  1. If you had 3 pieces of advice for others, what would they be?

1. Live today like it was your last.
2. People should smile more often.
3. Strangers are only the people we have not yet met.
